LAW’s World of Reading & Writing

The phrase, Be a great reader if you want to get better at writing, holds true in everyday case! It’s no secret that great writing skills (among other transferrable skills) can give us the edge at work. Afterall, what most companies, organizations, colleges, and universities expect from us is an ability to write effectively. To write well, we need to read widely and passionately. Otherwise, why should languages be a subject requirement in schools?

Welcome to LAW’s World of Reading & Writing aka Book & Writers Club, where we take a deep dive into the importance of reading and writing. We read and grow together. We write and analyze texts daily. We know sharing our interests in reading and writing is a fantastic way to generate creative ideas. Join us if you want to expand your abilities to be a happy and proud self-directed learner!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote learning has become our lifeline for education. No matter how challenging teaching/learning seems nowadays, LAW’s World of Reading & Writing remains vibrant. Digital technology enables us to stay in touch with each other and make learning/teaching works for ourselves through communicative literary activities that are well matched to learner’s developing abilities and interests.

LAW’s learning culture is authentic and lifelong. We benefit greatly by exploring and experiencing various reading & writing techniques. We believe that effective communication skills will equip ourselves with a better chance of having meaningful learning journey and being more in tune with the future of education development.

How would life be if we can’t read?

How would life be if we can’t read? I would probably be relying on someone to translate or explain something to me and feeling helpless if I should believe everything I’ve heard. Definitely, if I couldn’t read, my life would be so dull and silent, where I would have nothing much intelligent to say.

I wouldn’t have been here writing to you now, would I?

Good morning WORLD! If you are a parent and reading this post, thank you for visiting. How would life be if we can’t read? is just a rhetorical question, but it would be great if you could reflect on your/your child’s reading skills, particularly in English. I believe that English will still be the universal language that students need for College and Career Readiness in the future. I have been reminding LAW students and parents that reading is the backbone to all learning. Be a great reader if you want to get better at writing!

We are having our Book & Writers Club Orientation on Sunday, 22/08/2021 at 2:00-4:00pm (UTC +8 Malaysia). For more information about the event, please visit: https://languageartsworkshop.com/ Read on to find out how we make learning a lifelong process at LAW.

LAW’s Book & Writers Club is one of our initiatives, where members can truly ENJOY learning and using the language spontaneously, appropriately, intellectually, and effectively through authentic/practical reading and writing activities.

We cultivate the passion for reading and writing because we know that an ability to read, analyze, produce, and appreciate texts will be a great asset to future employability. Otherwise, how would life be if we can’t read (in the future)? Do you really think we can learn EVERYTHING from YouTube videos? Well, that’s just another rhetorical question.

Text analysis is part and parcel of our learning process at LAW. We don’t usually burden students with homework, but we stress on self discipline and commitment to group projects both inside and outside of the classroom because they are key to effective learning!

At LAW, age is just a guideline when it comes to grouping arrangement. Please take notes that understanding students’ individual learning needs is utmost important for positive learning outcomes.

Join LAW’s Book & Writers Club if you feel like stepping out of your comfort zone and make learning or teaching enjoyable & lifelong. Cheers!
